Peter Knowlton is an associate at Tereposky & DeRose. He assists clients in international trade and investment matters, including investor-state dispute settlement, anti-dumping and countervailing duty proceedings,  customs matters, economic sanctions, and government procurement.

Prior to joining Tereposky & DeRose, Peter worked at Global Affairs Canada and Canada’s National Security and Intelligence Review Agency, where he gained an understanding of the complex legal issues lying at the intersection of Canada’s national security and international trade and investment policies. During law school, Peter participated in competitive moots, including the Foreign Direct Investment Moot where he was awarded the Thomas Wälde award for best oral advocate.

  • Assists on the provision of advice to the Government of Mexico in multiple currently ongoing arbitration proceedings, including:

 Public Procurement & Government Contracting

  • Assists on the provision of legal advice to domestic suppliers on issues arising as part of the Canadian procurement process and government contracting.

 Customs and Domestic Regulation

  • Assists on the provision of legal advice on customs related issues including tariff classification, determining applicable custom duties as well as applicable exemptions, if any.

 Economic Sanctions

  • Assisted on the provision of legal advice relating to applications for delisting, including under the Special Economic Measures (Russia) Regulations and the Special Economic Measures (Belarus) Regulations.
